A press conference was held within the framework of the 49th International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) World Finals.

A press conference was held today at the Baku Convention Center within the framework of the 49th International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) World Finals. The event brought together representatives of local media, partner institutions, and organizers.

 

The main purpose of the press conference was to highlight the significance of hosting the competition in Baku, present the role of the partners, and address questions from media representatives. Opening remarks were delivered by Fariz Ismayilzada, Vice-Rector of ADA University, and Bill Poucher, ICPC Executive Director and Professor at Baylor University.

 

During the conference, questions from the media were answered by Fariz Ismayilzada, Vice-Rector of ADA University; Bill Poucher, ICPC Executive Director and Professor at Baylor University; Vusal Khalilov, Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan; Shahin Aliyev, Deputy Chairman of the Innovation and Digital Development Agency; Allen Gavin, Chief Editor of Huawei; Mostafa Rohaninejad, Researcher at OpenAI; and Andrey Ivanov, Senior Vice President for HR, Research, and Investments at JetBrains.

 

In their speeches, the speakers emphasized Azerbaijan’s growing role in the fields of innovation and technology, the importance of the ICPC in fostering youth development, and the contribution of the Baku finals to strengthening international cooperation.

 

It should be noted that from August 31 to September 5, Baku is hosting the 49th ICPC World Finals. Recognized as one of the most prestigious programming contests in the world, the finals are organized by the ICPC Foundation and hosted by ADA University, with the Central Bank of Azerbaijan as a partner, in collaboration with the Innovation and Digital Development Agency and the ICPC Azerbaijan community, and supported by PASHA Holding. The World Finals bring together teams (three students per team) from 140 universities across 70 countries.
