A programming competition was held in Sumgayit at the national level.

On April 27, 2025, the national programming competition “Sumgayit Cup” was held in the city of Sumgayit.
The event was organized as part of the preparations for the ICPC 2025 World Finals, which will be hosted in Baku for the first time in 2025.
The competition was co-organized by the Innovation and Digital Development Agency, the Institute of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Sumgayit Innovation Center, Sumgayit State University, and the ICPC Azerbaijan Community.
Students from various regions of the country participated in the event, showcasing their skills and knowledge in the field of programming.
The main goal of the event was to develop participants’ programming and algorithmic thinking skills, foster a healthy competitive environment, and identify innovation-oriented talents. In addition to increasing interest in the ICT field, the competition also contributed to expanding cooperation opportunities between educational institutions and relevant organizations.
In preparation for the “Sumgayit Cup,” a remote programming camp was organized from April 7 to 22, 2025, with the participation of international trainers.
A total of 25 teams—each consisting of one mentor and three participants—took part in the competition, representing 5 general education institutions and 20 higher education institutions.
This competition served as an important platform for young people to enhance their digital skills and contributed to Azerbaijan’s further progress in the global programming arena.
At the end of the competition, the top three teams were awarded special prizes.
