As part of the ICPC World Finals, the winners of the “R.M. 90” programming contest have been awarded.

As part of the 49th World Finals of the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC), the closing ceremony of the “R.M. 90” programming competition, dedicated to the 90th anniversary of Ramin Mahmudzada—Azerbaijan’s first programmer, distinguished educator, and recipient of the “Shohrat” Order—was held.

 

The event opened with a speech by Elchin Babayev, Rector of Baku State University, who highlighted the importance of the competition and congratulated the winners.

 

The ceremony continued with remarks by Farid Osmanov, Chairman of the Innovation and Digital Development Agency (IDDA). In his speech, he emphasized Ramin Mahmudzada’s invaluable role in bringing ICPC competitions to Azerbaijan, noting that awarding the winners during the ICPC World Finals was both inspiring and a motivating step toward future achievements.

 

This was followed by a panel discussion on the topic “From ICPC to a Digital Society” with the participation of Shahin Aliyev, Deputy Chairman of IDDA, and Afgan Abbasov, Director of a department at the Central Bank of Azerbaijan. The panel covered topics such as technology and digital development as well as memorable moments from Ramin Mahmudzada’s teaching career.

 

After the panel session, the awards ceremony for the winners took place.

  • First place: Teams from Baku State University, ADA University, and Baku Higher Oil School

  • Second place: Teams from ADA University, Baku Higher Oil School, and the National Aviation Academy

  • Third place: Teams from Baku State University, Marmara University, and the French-Azerbaijani University (UFAZ)

 

It should be noted that the “R.M. 90” programming competition was jointly organized by the Innovation and Digital Development Agency, Baku State University, the ICPC Azerbaijan community, and Caspian Event Organisers. The competition was held on August 8 at Baku State University, bringing together around 50 students from various universities with an interest in programming. Participants solved special programming tasks within a 4-hour timeframe.
