The Azerbaijan Innovation Center (AIC), established under the initiative of the Innovation and Digital Development Agency (IDDA), has officially opened. The event welcomed representatives of government agencies, members of the local innovation ecosystem, and delegates from partner organizations.

Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport, Samir Mammadov, delivered the opening address, underscoring the pivotal role of innovation hubs like AIC in driving the growth of startup ecosystems in rapidly developing countries.

"The Azerbaijan Innovation Center is more than just an office space; it is a key ecosystem enabler. Here, startups will engage in incubation and acceleration programs, connect with investors, establish partnerships, and showcase their projects," said Mammadov. He also highlighted AIC’s favorable leasing conditions and other benefits designed to attract both local and international companies.

In her remarks, IDDA Board Chairperson Inara Valiyeva emphasized the strategic importance of fostering innovation hubs to strengthen the national ecosystem:

"Startups are at the core of the innovation ecosystem. The creation of centers like AIC is vital for the country's development. AIC will expand its presence beyond Baku to include Sumgait and Ganja in the near future, empowering innovative thinkers across the regions to realize their ideas."

The event also featured presentations by Agahuseyn Ahmadov, Head of IDDA’s Investments and Ecosystem Support Department, and Elvin Hajiyev, Head of AIC, who provided in-depth insights into the Center's objectives. Additional speakers included Dominik Piotet, an expert in technopark development at IDDA; Farrukh Aliyev, Executive Director of PASHA Future Lab; and Mammad Karim, Head of Caucasus Ventures, who shared their perspectives on the critical role of innovation hubs like AIC in the region.

The Azerbaijan Innovation Center is poised to serve as a comprehensive hub for tech entrepreneurs, startups, and innovators. Its strategic agenda includes attracting global partners, expanding support programs for startups, and enabling their seamless integration into international markets. AIC aspires to become a leading ecosystem player, driving the integration of technology and innovation into the national economy.
