As part of “Baku Climate Action Week 2026”, a panel discussion titled “From COP29 to Climate Week: A Digital Path to a Green World” was held under the organization of the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport. Held in a Davos-style format, the event brought together nearly 100 representatives of government institutions, international organizations and the private sector, as well as experts.

The main objective of the panel discussion was to explore the role of digital technologies, innovation, investment and partnerships in translating climate commitments into concrete and measurable outcomes.

During the discussions, the importance of supporting climate commitments not only through accountability frameworks, but also through practical measures aimed at enhancing economic competitiveness, energy security and resilience was emphasized.

Speaking at the panel, Farid Osmanov, Chairman of the Board of IDDA, highlighted the contributions of digital government infrastructure and innovation to the green transition. He outlined opportunities to ensure more efficient use of energy and resources through digital government capabilities, as well as to implement practical digital initiatives serving climate objectives in the coming years. The IDDA official also emphasized that the digitalization of public services and their integration with AI-powered solutions can reduce paper use, in-person visits and repetitive administrative processes, enable more efficient use of resources, and ultimately minimize the environmental impact of public services.

Shahin Aliyev, Deputy Chairman of the Board of IDDA, also participated in the session titled “Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence: Building Climate-Resilient Agriculture” held as part of the Forum, where he shared his views on the opportunities that digital transformation and artificial intelligence can create in agriculture. In his speech, he noted that artificial intelligence should not be viewed as a separate area from digital transformation, but rather as its next stage.

As a result of the discussions, strengthening cooperation among governments, international organizations, the private sector and investors, increasing investment in digital and green innovations, scaling successful solutions, and adapting them to local needs were identified as key priorities.

Overall, the panel discussions were regarded as an important platform for continuing the climate agenda shaped within the framework of COP29, aligning digital transformation with the green transition, and promoting practical implementation mechanisms for international climate commitments.
