The next training sessions of the Digital Academy were held in Germany.

The next session of the Digital Academy for Leaders program, initiated by the Innovation and Digital Development Agency (IDDA), was held in Berlin on January 27-28.

Thirteen senior officials from 13 government institutions participated in the two-day training. During the visit, the participants had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the extensive digital transformation experience in the government sectors of Germany and Denmark and engage in detailed discussions with their German counterparts.

On the first day of the training, Gerhard Hammerschmidt, Director of the Digital Governance Center and the Master’s Program in Public Administration at the Hertie School, delivered a presentation offering an overview of Germany's digitalization experience. This was followed by a discussion session on the topic “Digitalization in the German Government: From Strategy to Implementation.”

The training continued with a look into Denmark's digital experience and a discussion on Germany's digital policies. Participants also visited the German Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport to learn about the digital transformation of transportation systems, including railways. On January 27, the participants of the Digital Academy training attended a reception organized by the Azerbaijani Embassy in Berlin at its Cultural Center.

During the reception, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany, Nasimi Aghayev, emphasized the importance of digitalization in the modern world and noted that collaboration in this area would create new opportunities and be vital for further development. Deputy Chairman of IDDA, Shahin Aliyev, highlighted that the development of human capital in digitalization is a priority in the newly approved Digital Development Concept, as set out by the country’s leadership. On the second day of training, meetings were held to familiarize participants with the activities of the GovTech campus, followed by discussions on digital policies with a representative from the German Federal Chancellery.

Since November 2023, the Digital Academy has been regularly conducting new training programs aimed at senior officials of government institutions. In December of the previous year, the first strategic session on Digital Transformation in the Public Sector was held in collaboration with the Hertie School. This year’s training sessions include trips to Germany, Singapore, and Saudi Arabia.
